Watching the 2019 Monaco Grand Prix
Attending the Monaco Grand Prix is always eventful. Thousands of Formula One fans descend on the French Riviera to watch the race. The Circuit de Monaco takes place on the streets of Monte Carlo and La Condamine overlooking the harbor. With several steep changes in elevation, the circuit differs from most professional racing tracks. It’s widely considered one of the most challenging circuits in the entire Formula One World Championship.
The course is known for its long, narrow tunnel. It’s a thin stretch of road that can throw some drivers for a loop. The sun beats down on the track during the race, but inside the tunnel, drivers need to quickly adjust their eyes to make up for the lack of light. When the drivers emerge from the tunnel, they again must quickly adjust their vision. The end of the tunnel marks the fastest point in the track, but drivers must then immediately brake to make it through a sharp snake-like turn in the course.
Overall, this makes for a thrilling racing event, one that’s unlike anything else in the Formula One World Championship. Fans typically gather at one of the many grandstands setup around the track. Some fans can also watch the race from one of the many Monaco balconies overlooking the area. Others prefer to watch the race from their boat or yacht while it’s parked in the neighboring harbor.
